Cleveland Win Evens Series at 1
|
New York center fielder Eric Davis pounded Cleveland Spiders pitchers at Yankee Stadium, but it was not enough to keep the Black Yankees from falling, 6-4, in Game 2 of the Wild Card Round. Davis was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice, though he couldn't prevent the Black Yankees from slipping into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-7 series.
In the top of the second, Cleveland catcher John Ellis had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 1st and one out, Ellis stroked a 2-run home run to left. It made the score 2-0, Cleveland. For the game, he went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Ellis said.
Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at League Park in Cleveland.
