Blitzed by Foxx, Sea Lions, Spiders Sink Further in Div
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of third baseman Jimmie Foxx, the San Francisco Sea Lions stopped the visiting Cleveland Spiders, 12-5, in Game 2 of the Divisional Playoffs. Foxx belted 2 home runs, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 3 for the Sea Lions, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
In the bottom of the fifth, San Francisco designated hitter Reggie Jackson had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Jackson stroked a grand slam home run to right. It made the score 8-4, San Francisco. For the game, he was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once.
"We're one game closer to our goal," San Francisco manager Daniel Makonnen said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."
The next game is set to be played for Wednesday, October 17th , 2001 at League Park in Cleveland.
