The Brooklyn Royal Giants got a strong performance from pitcher Don Drysdale, who stymied the visiting Indianapolis ABCs en route to a win, 6-3, in Game 2 of the Wild Card Round. The ABCs could never get a bead on the right-handed Drysdale, who threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The Royal Giants now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-7 series.

Mike Piazza chipped in a 2-run home run for Brooklyn in the bottom of the third. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.

"I put my work in and trusted the process," said Drysdale.

The next game is set to be played for Saturday, October 6th , 2001 at Crosley Field in Indianapolis.
