Smokey Joe Williams pitched well, but the Brooklyn Royal Giants lost anyway, falling, 4-3, in extra innings to the Indianapolis ABCs at Crosley Field. With the win, Indianapolis closed their deficit in the best-of-7 Wild Card Round to 2-1. Williams gave the Royal Giants 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Indianapolis shortstop Barry Larkin, facing Eric Gagne, had a run-scoring single. It gave the ABCs the 4-3 win.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Brooklyn manager Daniel Makonnen.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Crosley Field in Indianapolis.
