Brooklyn Draws First Blood in Whirled Series With 4-0 Win
Smokey Joe Williams and the Brooklyn Royal Giants opened the Whirled Series in brilliant fashion, traveling to San Francisco and shutting out the host Sea Lions at Oracle Park, 4-0, to secure an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Williams, the Royal Giants right-hander, threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball.

Williams allowed no runs on 2 hits over 8 innings for the Royal Giants. He walked 0 and struck out 11.

Brooklyn manager Daniel Makonnen commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
