The Houston Colt 45s started the Wild Card Round in style, downing the visiting Philadelphia Stars at Minute Maid Park by a score of 8-3 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Colt 45s designated hitter Paul Goldschmidt was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4.

Goldschmidt had a consequential at-bat in the bottom of the first for the Colt 45s. Coming up with a runner on 3rd and Houston trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run home run.
