Riding the 2-hit performance of first baseman Jeff Bagwell, the Houston Colt 45s stopped the visiting Philadelphia Stars, 5-4, in Game 2 of the Wild Card Round. Bagwell went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Colt 45s, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
A key moment came with one out in the bottom of the third. That's when Bagwell hit a fastball from Steve Carlton for a 2-run home run, putting Houston up, 5-2.
"I felt good up there," said Bagwell. "I saw the ball well."
Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at Shibe Park AL in Philadelphia.
