The Houston Colt 45s defeated the Brooklyn Royal Giants, 10-4, in Game 2 of the Divisional Playoffs. Making an impact was designated hitter Paul Goldschmidt, who went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. The win moves Houston into a 1-1 tie with Brooklyn in the series.

In the top of the first, Goldschmidt pounced on a first pitch fastball from Don Drysdale and hit a 3-run home run. It put Houston on top, 3-0.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Goldschmidt.

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, October 16th , 2001 at Minute Maid Park in Houston.
