The Birmingham Black Barons beat the New York Gothams by a score of 6-5. Birmingham designated hitter Bob Nieman deserved the lion's share of the credit. Nieman went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times for the Black Barons. The winning pitcher was Scott Baker. He's now 6-3.
