Grays Sunk by Black Barons
Homestead designated hitter Willie Stargell pounded Birmingham Black Barons pitchers at Forbes Field, but it was not enough to keep the Grays from falling, 12-11. Stargell belted 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. The Black Barons go to 22-39 with the win.

Birmingham used a clutch at-bat from Hank Aaron to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Black Barons ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We ground out the win," said Aaron. "That's all that matters."
