Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Kansas City Monarchs take on the Houston Colt 45s.

Kansas City turned a good effort from starter A. Rube Foster into a win over the Houston Colt 45s at Muehlebach Field 1923-1941. The final score was 6-1. Foster got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. Lee Smith closed the door for Kansas City, picking up his 1st save of the year.

Kansas City took a 6-1 lead on Doug Rader's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Rader hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Houston pitcher Billy Wagner visibly frustrated.

"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Rader.

After losing, Houston is 2-4.
