The Cleveland Spiders defeated the Chicago American Giants, 4-3, in American League action at South Side Park. Cleveland pitcher Bill Steen had a standout performance. With the win, Cleveland pushed its record to 33-28.

Cleveland won the game in part because of Ron Blomberg. The designated hitter ripped a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Spiders ahead, 4-3. For the game, Blomberg had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Blomberg.
