Losing Streak Continues for Islanders with 3-1 Loss to Elefantes
|
A good time was had by all at Estadio 5 de Septiembre, where the Honolulu Islanders and Cienfuegos Elefantes tangled.
Joe H Coleman never let Honolulu get something going. The Cienfuegos right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Elefantes to a 3-1 win. Honolulu has now lost 12 straight.
An important at-bat for the Elefantes came in the bottom of the fourth, when catcher Russell Martin stroked a 2-run home run. That made the score 3-0 in favor of Cienfuegos. For the day, Martin was 1 for 2 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Cienfuegos skipper Jeremy Stevanus. "I can't complain."
