House of David Trip Black Sox, 4-2, in Extra Innings
|
The Wandering House of David grabbed a win, 4-2, over the Baltimore Black Sox at Camden Yards. Wandering catcher Elrod Hendricks went 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles. The win was credited to Bruce Sutter in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Don Bessent took the loss. Wandering's record now stands at 30-35, placing them 4th in the AL Bill James Division.
Wandering used the timely hitting of Richie Hebner to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the House of David on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Hebner.
