American Giants Come Back Late to Top Monarchs, 4-2
|
Behind an impressive start by Joe Horlen, Chicago beat Kansas City, 4-2. Chicago reliever Ken Sanders got the win, raising his record to 3-3. José Rijo was tagged with the loss. With the win, Chicago pushed its record to 38-29.
Dick Allen hit a run-scoring triple off José Rijo in the top of the eighth, which put the American Giants in front, 3-2. Allen had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Chicago manager Daniel Makonnen.
