Jackson Excels in 9-4 San Francisco Win
|
With right fielder Reggie Jackson leading the charge, the San Francisco Sea Lions defeated the Los Angeles Angels, 9-4, at Candlestick Park. Jackson, who leads the AL with a .678 slugging percentage, went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 5. Lefty Grove got the win, improving to 8-2. He worked 6 innings, giving up 4 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 11 and walking 5. San Francisco raised its record to 36-33 with the win.
Jackson had a key at-bat for San Francisco early in the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 15th home run of the season and gave San Francisco an early 3-0 lead.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Jackson.
