Vaughan goes 3-for-4 to Ignite Spiders Offense
|
The Cleveland Spiders grabbed a win, 8-2, over the New York Black Yankees at Yankee Stadium. Cleveland shortstop Arky Vaughan went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The winner in relief was Whit Wyatt. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. The Spiders, now 37-29, have won 4 in a row.
With Cleveland trailing 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Vaughan hit a fastball from Andy Pettitte for a 2-run double. It was his 12th double of the season and put the Spiders ahead, 3-2.
"The vibe's good," said Cleveland manager Daniel Makonnen. "We've got to keep it going."
