The 9-4 San Francisco win over Los Angeles was due in large part to Turkey Stearnes. The Sea Lions center fielder went 2-3 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Dennis Eckersley notched his 1st save in 1 chances. With the win, San Francisco upped its record to 44-26.

Royce Clayton went 1 for 2 with a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for San Francisco. The 22-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Elmer Smith. It was his 8th RBI of the season.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Clayton, "one at-bat at a time."
