Spiders Deal Stars 4-1 Loss
|
The Cleveland Spiders picked up a win at Shibe Park, knocking off the Philadelphia Stars, 4-1. Starting pitcher Bill Steen was a big reason why. Terry Adams was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 17 of 21 save opportunities. The second-place Spiders have won 5 straight games.
Cleveland used the clutch hitting of John Ellis to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Spiders ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Cleveland skipper Daniel Makonnen. "I can't complain."
