Gothams Suffer 3-2 Home Defeat
|
The Philadelphia Stars converted a terrific effort from starter Steve Carlton into a win over the New York Gothams at Polo Grounds. The Stars won the game by a final score of 3-2. Carlton got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 5 innings. He allowed 1 run. Bob Howry closed out the game, earning his 1st save.
Philadelphia took a 3-1 lead on Scott Rolen's 1st home run of the season. The solo home run, which Rolen hit in the top of the ninth, left New York pitcher Santiago Casilla visibly frustrated.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Philadelphia manager Daniel Makonnen.
The Stars raised their record to 5-2.
