Black Barons Get Past Houston for 5-4 Win
|
Houston got a decent performance from pitcher Roy Oswalt, but it wasn't enough to beat the Birmingham Black Barons. Birmingham won the Minute Maid Park contest, 5-4. Oswalt threw 7.1 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. Juan Rincón, credited with the save, is now 8 for 9 in save opportunities. Birmingham is now 32-36.
Birmingham used the clutch hitting of Frank McCormick to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Black Barons ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said McCormick.
