Extra-Inning Win by Spiders Over Sea Dogs
|
Fans who congregated at Griffith Stadium were treated to extra-inning drama.
Portland first baseman Gil Hodges was sensational. He went 2-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Cleveland beat the Sea Dogs, 11-6, in 13 innings. With the win, the Spiders sit at 39-30.
John Ellis came through with a big-time hit for Cleveland. The first baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the 13th inning to give his team the lead, 8-6. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Cleveland manager Daniel Makonnen.
