American Giants Lose to Red Sox, 6-1
Memphis Red Sox starter Red Ruffing turned in a top-notch performance against the Chicago American Giants at Fenway Park. The result was a win for the Red Sox, 6-1. Ruffing yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 9. His record improves to 2-0. The win gives Memphis a record of 4-4.

Wade Boggs had a big 2-run double for the Red Sox in the bottom of the first inning. With Memphis leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from 32-year old left-handed pitcher Mark Buehrle and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Red Sox ahead, 3-0.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Boggs.
