Hodges Hits 2 home runs in Sea Dogs Win
|
The Portland Sea Dogs downed the New York Black Yankees, 11-8, at Griffith Stadium. Gil Hodges led the way, going 3-for-4 for Portland. Walter Johnson got the win, improving to 8-5. He held the Black Yankees to 6 runs on 5 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 5. The last-place Sea Dogs are now 32-43, the Black Yankees 46-29.
Paul Molitor, who is tied for 8th in the AL in stolen bases with 21, contributed to the Portland win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 runs batted in.
