The Brooklyn Royal Giants picked up a win at Hilltop Park, knocking off the Ottawa Mounties, 6-2. Starting pitcher Smokey Joe Williams was a big reason why. The National League Effa Manley Division-leading Royal Giants have a record of 43-32.

Beals Becker had a big 2-run home run for the Royal Giants in the top of the third inning. With Brooklyn leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Bob Moose, who is tied for 10th in the NL in quality starts with 8, and punished it. The result was his 16th home run of the season, which put the Royal Giants on top, 3-0.
