Black Yankees Lose to Spiders, 7-3
Cleveland and New York got after it at Yankee Stadium.

The Cleveland Spiders topped the New York Black Yankees, 7-3. Pat Malone, who is tied for 6th in the AL with a 8.4 K/9 rate, engineered a dominant performance. The winning pitcher was Malone, now 7-4. He tossed 9 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8.

Cleveland used the clutch hitting of Chuck Knoblauch to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Spiders ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Cleveland manager Daniel Makonnen.

With the victory, the Spiders upped their record to 43-33.
