Stars Capture Close Win

Despite the rain, the fans at Shibe Park AL enjoyed a good ballgame.
The Philadelphia Stars stopped the Brooklyn Royal Giants, 3-2, at Shibe Park AL. The Stars got a big game from Andrew Payne, who was 1-1 with a home run. Philadelphia reliever Ryan Madson picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Sandy Koufax was saddled with the loss. Bob Howry notched his 2nd save of the season.
Payne had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a full count fastball from Sandy Koufax, he banged a solo home run to right-center, giving the Stars a 3-2 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Payne.
"Every time you put a 'W' on the board is always good," said Payne.
Brooklyn is 4-4 after the defeat.
