Behind a fine performance from Mike Piazza, the Brooklyn Royal Giants knocked off the Homestead Grays, 7-6. Piazza was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Royal Giants. Brooklyn, at 44-33, is 3 games up in the National League Effa Manley Division.

Piazza had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-0 fastball from Michael Jackson, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Royal Giants a 7-6 lead. It was the 27th home run of the year for Piazza.
