Tulowitzki Helps Black Barons Beat Gothams, 9-2
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the New York Gothams and Birmingham Black Barons get after it.
Black Barons shortstop Troy Tulowitzki put his stamp on his team's 9-2 win over the New York Gothams. Tulowitzki went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 6 runs and scored once for Birmingham in the contest. Greg Maddux, the winner, goes to 6-8. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts over 7 innings.
With Birmingham leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Tulowitzki hit a 2-run single off New York hurler Vean Gregg. It was the 20th hit of the season for Tulowitzki and put his team ahead, 3-0.
"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Tulowitzki told the Birmingham Today.
The last-place Black Barons improved to 33-47.
