Simmons Hits 2 home runs in Monarchs Win
|
The Kansas City Monarchs used the hitting of catcher Ted Simmons to subdue the Ottawa Mounties, 6-4. For the game, Simmons belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Jeff Pfeffer got the save, his 16th in 20 chances. Kansas City leads the National League Marvin Miller Division by 2 games.
Simmons had a game-changing double in the top of the eighth. On a first pitch fastball from Jesse Crain, he banged a run-scoring double to right-center, giving the Monarchs a 5-4 lead. It was the 25th double of the year for Simmons.
"Feels good to get the job done," Simmons said after the game.
