Birmingham Makes It 6 Straight with 8-5 Win
|
Birmingham picked up a win at Yankee Stadium, bumping off the New York Black Yankees, 8-5. Pitcher Vic Willis was a major reason the Black Barons emerged victorious. The win belongs to Bruce Chen in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Ralph Citarella took the loss for New York. The second-place Black Yankees have lost 4 consecutive games.
Pie Traynor, the 29-year old third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Traynor contributed a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put Birmingham up, 6-3.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Birmingham manager Daniel Makonnen.
