Berkman Shines, But Spiders Fall Short
The Cleveland Spiders got a superb performance from first baseman Lance Berkman, but the Los Angeles Angels still won the game, 8-7. Berkman hit 3 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring three times. Joe Nathan notched his 14th save in 17 chances. The 4th-place Angels are 39-48.

Los Angeles took the lead, 8-7, on Mike Trout's 19th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Cleveland pitcher Terry Adams in the top of the ninth.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Trout told the Los Angeles Citizen.
