American Giants Earn Win with Late Rally
The Chicago American Giants had to overcome a fine effort from San Francisco pitcher Tommy Bridges to win, 3-2, at South Side Park. Bridges went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Chicago pitcher Akinori Otsuka earned the win, hiking his record to 4-1. Dennis Eckersley suffered the loss. Chicago's record now stands at 42-47, placing them third in the American League Cumberland Posey Division.

Dick Allen was the walk-off hero for Chicago. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the American Giants third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Allen.
