Morgan Excels, But Black Barons Win
Crosley Field was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Birmingham Black Barons and Indianapolis ABCs.

The Birmingham Black Barons weathered a fine game by Indianapolis second baseman Joe Morgan to upend the ABCs, 9-8, at Crosley Field. Morgan hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4. Birmingham is in last place in the National League Marvin Miller Division with a record of 39-51.

Birmingham used the hitting of Albert Belle to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Black Barons on top, 6-0. For the game, Belle had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Belle.
