Black Yankees Earn 8-4 Win Against Spiders
|
Led by Babe Ruth, the New York Black Yankees defeated the Cleveland Spiders, 8-4. Ruth was 2 for 5 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Black Yankees. New York goes to 56-35. The win puts them 5½ games up in their division.
Lou Gehrig came through with a big-time hit for New York. The first baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Cleveland manager Daniel Makonnen.
