The Cleveland-New York game took longer to complete because of the rain. But it was worth it for the home team in the end.

New York first baseman Lou Gehrig had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 9-7, to Cleveland in 10 innings. Gehrig was 2-3 with 2 home runs, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The win was credited to Whit Wyatt in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Herm Wehmeier took the loss.

Cleveland got a knockout punch from Evan Longoria. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"It's what good teams do, find a way to win," said Longoria.

The triumph puts Cleveland at 50-39 for the season.
