Charleston Helps ABCs Beat Black Barons, 6-1
Behind a solid performance from center fielder Oscar Charleston, the Indianapolis ABCs defeated the Birmingham Black Barons, 6-1. Charleston went 4-5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the ABCs. Indianapolis pitcher Luis Padrón earned the win, hiking his record to 13-2. Greg Maddux suffered the loss. The victory gives Indianapolis a record of 49-43.

George Foster had a big solo home run for the ABCs in the top of the second inning. With Indianapolis leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a circle change from Greg Maddux, who is tied for 10th in the NL in quality starts with 9, and punished it. The result was his 18th home run of the season, which put the ABCs on top, 2-0.

"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Foster.
