Black Yankees Edge Sea Lions, 4-3
|
Led by Eric Davis, the New York Black Yankees downed the San Francisco Sea Lions, 4-3. Davis was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times for the Black Yankees. Ron Guidry, the winner, improved to 1-1. He held the Sea Lions to 3 runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Aroldis Chapman sewed up the save, his 3rd.
Elliott Maddox drew 2 walks in 4 plate appearances for New York. The 21-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Dennis Eckersley. It was his 8th RBI of the season.
After the game, New York manager Daniel Makonnen applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
With their winning streak at 5, the Black Yankees have raced to a strong start this season.
