House of David Lose to Black Barons, 9-0
|
The Birmingham Black Barons cut down the Wandering House of David by the score of 9-0, with the largest share of the credit going to catcher Jim Pagliaroni. Pagliaroni went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs for the Black Barons. The win belonged to Charlie A Morton in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Fergie Jenkins took the loss for Wandering. The last-place Black Barons sport a record of 41-54.
Ryan Braun had a big 2-run double for the Black Barons in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Birmingham leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Fergie Jenkins and swatted a double to right. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Black Barons ahead, 4-0.
"What a lackluster performance," lamented losing manager Daniel Makonnen.
