Colt 45s Win at Homestead, 5-2
|
Houston starter Stephen Strasburg pitched well against the Homestead Grays at Forbes Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. Strasburg, now 2-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Sparky Lyle recorded the save for Houston, his 1st of the season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jim Wynn? The Houston center fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Colt 45s on top, 2-1. For the game, Wynn had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"Stephen was able to execute his pitches," said Houston manager Daniel Makonnen. "Simple as that."
Homestead falls to 6-4.
