Black Barons Walk It Off for 43rd Win of Season
|
The Kansas City Monarchs could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Frank Castillo into a win. Instead, the Birmingham Black Barons prevailed, 4-2. Castillo threw 7.2 innings of 1-hit ball. The Birmingham win streak is now 3 games.
The decisive blow was delivered by Ryan Braun in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Craig Kimbrel to win the game for Birmingham. The home crowd went nuts.
Braun called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
