Getting a good performance from catcher Ed Bailey, the Cleveland Spiders defeated the Detroit Wolverines, 7-4. Bailey belted 2 home runs for the Spiders. Terry Adams was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 19 save opportunities. Cleveland now has a record of 54-40 with the win.

Cleveland used a clutch at-bat from Ron Blomberg to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Spiders ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Blomberg. "And not try to do too much."
