Mounties Suffer 9-7 Road Loss
New York left fielder Don Buford made his presence felt in the 9-7 Gothams triumph over the Ottawa Mounties. Buford went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Brian Wilson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 16 save opportunities. The triumph puts New York at 50-49 for the season.

Willie Mays, who is tied for 9th in the NL in RBI with 70, came through for New York with a grand slam home run in the bottom of the sixth. The center fielder went 3 for 5 for the game, including 1 home run and 2 doubles. He scored 1 run and collected 4 runs batted in.
