Baltimore Bats Go Silent in 2-0 Loss
|
Miami starter Roenis Elias put a stranglehold on the Baltimore offense. The left-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Cuban Giants to a 2-0 win. Elias, now 4-3, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Aroldis Chapman converted his 15th save in 17 tries.
The Cuban Giants had to work out of trouble in the top of the ninth. The score was 2-0, Miami, with one out. Baltimore, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Bobby Wallace dug in at the plate, but on a 2-2 slider, he struck out.
The Cuban Giants sport a record of 37-60.
