Monarchs Blank Indianapolis, Wood Winner
Sunday, April 22nd , 2001
Smokey Joe Wood subdued the Indianapolis ABCs, 6-0, pitching a 2-hit gem for the Kansas City Monarchs at Crosley Field.
"He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Kansas City skipper Daniel Makonnen said.
Wood registered 7 strikeouts and issued 1 walk in his superb performance.
"We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Indianapolis manager Daniel Makonnen after the defeat.
