Spiders Blomberg Booms 3 HRs
Monday, April 30th , 2001
Ron Blomberg went on an explosive hitting spree against the Baltimore Black Sox at League Park, launching a trio of blasts to help the Cleveland Spiders win, 8-4.
The first baseman finished 3-for-5 with 3 runs scored and 7 RBI.
"It was just one of those days," Blomberg said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball."
Baltimore skipper Daniel Makonnen said Blomberg was "locked-in."
"We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him."
Ron Blomberg grounded out in the 1st, hit a GRAND SLAM off Jim Palmer in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Jim Palmer in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Johnny Sain in the 7th and flied out in the 8th.
To date this season, Blomberg is hitting .259 with 8 home runs.
