Bagwell Belts 3 HRs Thursday, May 3rd , 2001 Jeff Bagwell was sending souvenirs to the sun gods all game long in the 12-6 Houston Colt 45s triumph at Hilltop Park. The 23-year-old put on a show for fans, launching not one, not two, but three home runs into the stands and powering the Colt 45s past the Ottawa Mounties. "One homer's good, two's great, three's out of sight," Bagwell told BNN reporters after the game. "I can't wait until next game. I really feel good at the plate." The first baseman went 5-for-5, rung up 7 RBIs and scored 4 runs on his record-setting day. Jeff Bagwell hit a two-run home run off Randy Johnson in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Atlee Hammaker in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Dave Gregg in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Bagwell on the season is batting .257 with 7 home runs. His totals include 22 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He has played in 29 games. |
