3-HR Game for Blomberg
Saturday, May 26th , 2001
Ron Blomberg went on an explosive hitting spree against the Detroit Wolverines at League Park, launching a trio of blasts to help the Cleveland Spiders win, 8-3.
The first baseman finished 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored and 4 RBI.
"It was just one of those days," Blomberg said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball."
Detroit skipper Daniel Makonnen said Blomberg was "locked-in."
"We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him."
Ron Blomberg hit a two-run home run off Pete Conway in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Pete Conway in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Gene Conley in the 8th.
To date Blomberg has chalked up a .276 average with 19 home runs, driven in 44 runs and scored 31 times.
