José Canseco Strokes 3 Home Runs
Tuesday, May 29th , 2001
The "hardest feat in sports" debate is a never-ending one with no correct answer, but hitting three home runs is certainly in the conversation. That's exactly what José Canseco did at Baker Bowl, going deep three times and carrying his team to victory, 7-4.
"It all came together. I was seeing the ball well and I got some good pitches to hit," Canseco said. "Good things happen, when that happens."
The Miami Cuban Giants right fielder blistered the Memphis Red Sox for 3 hits, batted in 4 runs and scored 3 times.
"It ain't like we weren't trying," Memphis manager Daniel Makonnen said. "He was hot and really torched my boys today."
José Canseco hit a solo-shot off Stubby Overmire in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Stubby Overmire in the 3rd, walked in the 5th and hit a two-run home run off David Bush in the 7th.
Canseco currently has a .294 batting average with 47 hits, 27 homers, 43 RBIs, 42 runs scored and a .405 OBP.
