NL Announces Outstanding Batter Award
Friday, June 1st , 2001
It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 23 Larry Walker has a lot of baseball ahead of him.
But for now the young Ottawa Mounties star can enjoy the numbers he put up in May, which have garnered him the nod as the National League Batter of the Month.
His breakout month featured a .273 average with 17 home runs, 38 RBIs and 23 runs scored.
In his season totals Walker has 26 home runs and a .330 batting average.
