Gore Pops 3 Out of the Park Against Gothams Monday, June 11th , 2001 At Polo Grounds, George Gore hit homer after homer after homer. But they didn't add up to enough to beat the New York Gothams as the Wandering House of David went down to defeat, 10-9. "It was a good game for me, not so good for our team," the Wandering center fielder said. "I got lucky. I made some good swings on some pitches. We just didn't put up one in the win column." On his monumental day, he had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 5 runs, and scored 3 times. "The third one was totally unexpected," Gore told reporters after his extraordinary game. "I just wanted to make good contact, never thinking I would get another home run and bang, I got number three." George Gore hit a solo-shot off Gaylord Perry in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Gaylord Perry in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Troy Percival in the 7th, walked in the 8th and flied out in the 10th. Thus far this year, Gore has hit .278 with 6 home runs and 19 RBIs. |
